Brahms/Mount

Brahms/Mount makes genuine blankets and throws in a small weaving mill located in Hallowell, Maine. The company was founded in 1983 by artists Claudia Brahms and Noel Mount with the vision of weaving the best blankets available from natural fibers. They use Crompton and Knowles W3 shuttle looms that date from the 1940's. Depending on the style, an individual Queen-sized blanket can contain nearly six pounds of pure cotton. The weight is needed to provide proper drape of the blanket for a good night's sleep. All blankets are washable.

The mill site occupies the former home of the Hallowell Granite Company, founded in 1866 as one of the first production lines in North America.
