Product Description

St. Dormeir washable wool mattress protectors are quilted in Spain with 100% Virgin New Zealand Wool, using a special unbleached, undyed 100% cotton terry cover. This cotton is quilted to the wool and extends down forming a stretchy skirt that fits snugly around the sides of the mattress, with an elastic band around the bottom edge for a good, secure fit. Available with 16" deep pockets (for mattresses up to 13" thick) or 24" deep pockets (for mattresses up to 21" thick). Weight is 250 g/m2.

Why St. Dormeir Wool? Wool absorbs perspiration much better than polyester and will keep your mattress wonderfully clean and fresh. Its breathability keeps you cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. Wool also lasts for years and is naturally flame retardant. A special European milling process makes this wool completely machine washable, unlike typical wool pads that need to be dry cleaned. St. Dormeir protectors have the same convenience of polyester filled mattress pads with all the wonderful characteristics of natural wool.

Customers who have bought the Tempurpedic mattresses or similar foam or latex mattresses & felt it slept too hot made this St. Dormeir wool mattress topper famous. Many discovered that it helps cool down their mattress without interfering with the feel.

Care instructions: Machine wash with warm water on the gentle cycle using a mild detergent. Do not use chlorine bleach. Wash these protectors by themselves and do not overload the washing machine. Tumble dry on low heat.

Please note these mattress protectors are water resistant not water proof. Small swatches are available upon request.

  1. love this mattress pad! 5 Star Review

Posted by on Aug 3rd 2014

I bought a Temporpedic mattress and sleeping in it was uncomfortable because it made us sweat! It was also way too firm. After putting the mattress pad on, we don't have the heat issue and it made the bed feel much softer and more comfortable. Definitely worth the money.

  2. Exactly as expected 5 Star Review

If you read reviews and recommendations for wool this product provides everything as you would expected. I tend to sleep very warm and occasionally wake up to sweaty sheets in the middle of the night, so I've been considering a wool mattress cover for awhile. This absolutely lived up to the hype, I even had a few nights in the high 80's when my AC wasn't functioning, and was able to sleep somewhat comfortably and dry with just a ceiling fan. It seems to be made well, I haven't washed it yet, but it appears that this product would hold up to machine washing. The terry-cloth cover also seems to help it stay in place. I did a fairly exhaustive search online, and didn't find too many options for just a thin or felted wool mattress cover, but this fit the bill and was the lowest price. Still rediculously expensive compared to a normal mattress cover, but it serves much more of a purpose! Very happy with my purchase.

  3. Worth every Penny 5 Star Review

I purchased this to cover my tempurpedic mattress because the mattress seemed so warm. I will have to say that I noticed a difference immediately. I have tried other mattress covers and they have not worked as well.

  4. Just perfect! 5 Star Review

This product fit my Grand tempurpedic mattress perfect. Most reviews on covers state that they produce heat and that it changes the feel of the mattress or the sheets slip, not with this one. Extremely happy with my purchase.

Keeps us cool at night. Very comfortable.

  6. EXCELLENT COMFORT 5 Star Review

From the first nights use it has surpassed our expectations. We like the way wool adapts to both cool and warm nights. The sheets stay in place. We have not had it long enough to need to try laundering the mattress cover. This is very superior to "polyester or cotton" mattress covers!

  7. A must for Tempurpedic mattrress! 5 Star Review

Posted by on Mar 16th 2014

I purchased a 7.3 lb. (density) memory foam mattress from Tempurpedic called The Grand Bed to relieve chronic back pain. The mattress caused excessive heat build up undrneath my body, and I awoke hot and sweaty multiple times per night. Frustrated, I purchased Outlast and Tencel products but they both failed to regulate the mattresses temperature too. After researching forums, I decided to try one last product before returning the 220 pound mattress! The new Dormeir (St. Geneve) wool mattress pad worked flawlessly! Now, I sleep like a baby and don't suffer from pain or night sweats. The pad is excellent quality, and works as advertised. Thank You-

  8. Love this mattress pad 5 Star Review

It has been four months since purchasing the St Dormeir Mattress Pad and I couldn't be more pleased. I was a little worried about investing so much money in a mattress pad but it has been worth every penny. I have trouble maintaining my body temperature due to severe health issues and this pad has helped so much in helping me to sleep more comfortably. Owning a latex mattress and I was concerned about the pad changing the feel of my bed but I have not noticed much of a change at all. I had also read reviews about some folks describing this pad like laying on a towel, I know everyone is different but I find the St Dormeir very comfy. Sandra was super helpful in helping pick out the right size. Thanks again Sandra! I highly recommend!

  9. Superior quality mattress protector 5 Star Review

Posted by on Sep 28th 2013

After purchasing our first memory foam mattress ever, I realized we also needed a new protector that was breathable yet water resistant. After much research, I found that the St. Dormeir seemed to be the gold standard in mattress protectors. It was the most recommended and received the highest reviews by far on all of the forums and blogs. The only thing that made me hesitate was the price tag. I went ahead and order one.....no regrets at all! The protector is very well made, right down to the evenly spaced stitching. The sides are generous but once you put it on the mattress, they stay in place with no bunching. I have an 11" mattress and it could easily handle a thicker one. The entire protector is incredibly soft. The top pad is nice and thick yet does not mask the feel of the memory foam in the least. My husband has always been a "hot" sleeper and he has noticed a huge difference since we started using the St. Dormeir. He no longer wakes up in the middle of the night, drenched with perspiration. Overall, this is a fantastic mattress protector and well worth the cost.

  10. Very well made product, but thin 4 Star Review

Posted by on Sep 18th 2013

I was pleased to see the quality construction and materials used in this mattress pad. However, I was disappointed that the pad provides very little additional plushness to my mattress, which was one of the reasons I purchased it. I need to get something else to put under it now. I'm sort of amazed that some other reviewers felt it did provide comfy cushioning. I got a pad from a new batch; maybe they have significantly lowered the wool content? PS - I cannot seem to edit my review; "protects mattress" is not a con!
